Looking Outside Inside

Everyone is a hypocrite. Even me. Especially me.

I feel the vast majority of our problems would be solved if we could figure out how to stop contradicting ourselves.

Why is it so hard for us to simply do what we say we will do? Why do we never seem to act the way we think everyone else ought to? Why do we constantly judge others for making the same mistakes that we do? And why do condemn ourselves by actively fighting against the things we say we believe?

We are quick to judgement, and oft cast the first stone.

Take the time to view where someone else is at in their life. What is motivating their actions? Begin to understand the motives behind the actions.

Go deeper than that. Where do their motives stem from?

Walking a mile in someones shoes does not simply mean to imagine how you would react in the same situation.

Examine the situation as though you were that person; with all the same life experiences, desires, and fears. Only then does true compassion and charity play a role in our lives.
